On June 30, in celebration of Pride Month, Niagara Falls will be illuminated in rainbow colours at the top of every hour, beginning at 9 p.m., followed by an additional illumination in pink, white and blue at 10:15 p.m.
Pride Month, observed annually in June, honours the 2SLGBTQI+ community's resilience, history and fight for equality. The rainbow illumination of Niagara Falls stands as a testament to Niagara’s commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community. The pink, white and blue illumination celebrates transgender individuals. This colourful illumination of Niagara Falls serves as a powerful symbol of support for the 2SLGBTQI+ community worldwide.
All special illumination requests are reviewed and approved by the Niagara Falls Illumination Board, which has financed and operated the “illumination of Niagara Falls” since 1925. The Niagara Falls Illumination Board is made up of representatives from the City of Niagara Falls, Ont., City of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Ontario Power Generation Inc., New York Power Authority, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and The Niagara Parks Commission. It is the Illumination Board’s responsibility and mandate to finance and maintain the nightly illumination of both the Horseshoe and American Falls.
