Safety concern at Fort Erie school 'unfounded': police

The school had received a phone call after 6 p.m. on Tuesday that said there was a threat to the school

On June 19, 2024, 5 District (Fort Erie) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the St. Philomena Catholic Elementary School, located at 1332 Phillips Street in the Town of Fort Erie for an unknown safety concern.

Investigation revealed the school received a  voicemail from an unknown person on June 18, 2024 at approximately 6:11 p.m., advising there was a threat to the school.

Out of an abundance of caution, the school was evacuated while officers investigated to determine the validity of the threat.

As a result of the investigation, it was deemed unfounded and the students returned to their school safely.
