Teen arrested, second suspect sought in park vandalism in Grimsby

Police believe the second suspect is between the ages of 15 and 20

As a result of the investigation, detectives with 8 District (Grimsby) were able to identify one of the two suspects.

On June 27, 2024, the suspect was arrested.

A 16-year-old male from Grimsby, Ont. was arrested and charged with the following offence:

  • mischief over $5,000

The 16-year-old male was released on a Form 10-Undertaking with a future court date.

The Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada prohibits the Niagara Regional Police Service from releasing the identity of the youth.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives believe there is still one outstanding suspect.

The suspect is described as:

Suspect 1:

  • Male
  • White
  • Between the ages of 15-20yrs
  • Thin build
  • No facial hair
  • Wearing a light green or beige aviator hat with white or light-colored flaps, dark blue or black zip up sweater with a grey shirt underneath and black pants 
  • Had a black backpack with a white or grey front panel

The suspects were in the area of Coronation Park located at 1 Elms Street in Grimsby between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on June 15, 2024.

Detective are asking the public to contact police or crime stoppers with any information or CCTV footage from the area.
