April 08, 1933 - October 08, 2024

Harley Teare passed away peacefully, at St. Catharines Hospital on October 8th, after battling a lung infection for several weeks. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Winnie (Dakin) Teare. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret (nee Greig), daughter, Carolyn (Frank), son, James, and granddaughter, Kaitlyn. He also leaves his brother, Gerald, and his extended family. Harley grew up in Essex, Ontario and after graduating from high school moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson. He was a graduate of the Photographic Arts program and eventually struck out as an entrepreneur owning several professional colour labs. He was also an avid photographer and was particularly interested in nature photography.

Harley was always interested in sports and as a teen in Essex was involved in a variety of athletic pursuits. He was active as a coach & statistician with Goulding Park in North York while James was playing hockey.

Travel was always a passion for Harley & Margaret. They travelled widely throughout Canada, the U.S and Europe by car, bus, motorhome and later when retired, on smaller cruise ships to explore Asia, South America and Iceland, visiting areas which they had not seen before. The journeys are well documented with photos.

Harley and Margaret moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake, 27 years ago, and for several years both commuted to Toronto every day. Once retired, Harley began to explore his family roots in Ontario and discovered one of his ancestors was in Niagara in 1810 and took part in the War of 1812 before moving on to southwestern Ontario. Harley was an active member of the Niagara Nature Club and participated in their activities for many years.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life for extended family and friends will be held at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
