December 22, 1948 - October 11, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of William (Bill) King at his home on Friday October 11, 2024 at the age of 75.

Beloved husband and soulmate of 12 years to Beverly Lovejoy (Stirtzinger), his love for his family was immeasurable. He was a proud father to Nigel King (Youngmi Park) and Colin King, and stepfather to Amber Lovejoy and Jason Lovejoy (Kallie Edmonson). Bill will also be sadly missed by his ex-wife Catherine King.

Born in London, England, Bill moved to Canada at the age of 9 and grew up in Scarborough with his parents. Some of his fondest memories were playing bass guitar in a band called “The Crypt” in his teenage years and when they opened for The Rolling Stones at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1965.

In his career, Bill spent many years managing Costco stores throughout Southern Ontario, as well as being a store designer for Nygard International. In his early career, he was the visual presentation manager for central Canada at Reitman's International.

Bill, affectionately known as “BBQ Bill” (which his license plate proudly displayed), brought joy and laughter to all who knew him and was a well-respected man in Pelham. Bill was a key member of the Fabulous Fenwick Lions for many years and current Lion Chief. He was also an active volunteer in the Town of Pelham, including organizing the parade and entertainment for the annual Canada Day celebrations. Bill was the proud recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for Lion’s Canada and the Town of Pelham’s Volunteer of the Year Award.

Bill was loved and held in high regard by all who knew him. He was a kind and generous man, and a passionate chef who enjoyed his mornings ventures in town, shopping for his limitless recipes. Bill was a creative soul with many hobbies including gardening, design, bird watching, music and sports. He also enjoyed annual winter vacations to Costa Rica with his wife, having made many friends there as well.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Bill touched our lives in profound ways. He will be deeply missed but forever loved and remembered.

In keeping with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place.

Family and friends will be received at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Friday, October 18th from 1-4 and 6-8 pm, with a Lions Club walk through taking place at 5:45 pm.

In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy donations may be made to Lion’s Camp Dorset or Lion’s Foundation of Canada Guide Dogs.

Condolences can be shared at www.pelhamfuneralhome.ca
