Suspect sought in armed Wainfleet robbery investigation

Police say the clerk at the convenience store wasn't injured in the robbery, which saw one shot fired by the suspect

Police are looking for a suspect in connection with an armed robbery at a Wainfleet convenience store.

On Oct. 20, 2023, at 3:18 a.m. Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 6 District (Port Colborne/Wainfleet) responded to a robbery that just occurred at a 24 hour convenience store located on Regional Road 24 near Regional Road 27 in the Township of Wainfleet.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the employee who indicated a lone male suspect entered the store brandishing a handgun. The suspect demand currency and cigarettes. A single shot was fired by the suspect into the ceiling of the store. The employee did not receive any physical injuries.

The suspect exited the store and entered a grey coloured SUV with a hood scoop and a sunroof. The last known direction of the suspect vehicle was northbound on Regional Road 24.

The suspect is described as follows:

  • male
  • white
  • 30 to 40 years
  • approximately 5’10” tall
  • medium to heavy build
  • wearing a black jacket or hoodie
  • wearing blue jeans
