Fifteen-year-old girl eludes potential kidnapper in Welland

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at approximately 11:52 p.m., 3 District (Welland/Fonthill) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of South Pelham Road and Sumbler Road in the City of Welland for a possible abduction attempt.

Investigation revealed that a 15-year-old female was in the area of Welland River and Courthouse Lane in the City of Welland when an unknown male driving a black SUV drove up to her and stopped the vehicle beside her. An unknown male then exited the vehicle and made attempts to put the youth female in the vehicle however the female was able to get away.

The male suspect is described as:

  • 40-50 years old
  • Tan skin
  • Wrinkly face
  • Large nose
  • Black/grey straight neck length hair
  • Black/grey short beard and moustache
  • 5'8''
  • Medium Build
  • Wearing a black zip up hoodie and black cargo pants

3 District (Welland/Fonthill) detectives have taken carriage of the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009470.
