Niagara Regional Police have made an arrest in a commercial break-in earlier this month in St. Catharines.
On Feb. 7, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers responded to a commercial break and enter call near Louth Street and Rykert Street, according to a police news release.
The investigation was assigned to 1 District Street Crime Unit (SCU) detectives. As a result, detectives identified a male suspect.
On Friday, Feb. 21, detectives arrested and charged Kitchener resident Alex Viksne, 38, with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Break Enter and Commit
- Possession of Break-In Instruments
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (2 Counts)
Viksne has been held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled to take place on Feb. 22, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
