WILEY, Betty Beatrice

It is with great sadness that we said our final good-bye to our mother, Betty Beatrice Wiley (Elsie) on June 17, 2023 at the age of 83.  She now joins her loving husband Cary, who predeceased her in 2012.  Loving mother of Jeff, Cathy (Dale), Ron (Debbie), gramma of what she always referred to as her "good looking boys" -Aaron (Kelsey), Andy (Ashlee). She recently was excited to become great-gramma to Ellie.   Survived by her siblings, Donna, Duke (Gail), Ken (Sue) and her brother in laws, Lloyd, Arthur, Leonard (Rhonda).  Predeceased by her parents, Art & MaryAnn Elsie, her in-laws, Billl & Neta Wiley, brother-in-laws, Alvin Wiley, Claude Roy and sister-in-law Hazel Wiley. She is survived by many loved nieces, nephews and friends.

When mom was younger, she and dad attended dances at local community centers. When these two hit the dance floor, they caught your attention with their moves. She took pride in being a stay-at-home mom. In later years, she joined the Welland Hospital in the housekeeping department.  She loved this job. It allowed her to do what she liked best- caring for others and spreading kindness to make people feel better.  She would talk with patients who were hospitalized while she cleaned their room, hoping to lift their spirits. She loved to cook, which included canning.  She was best known for her home-made pies and her bread & butter pickles.  Christmas time was her favourite time of year, and when you would visit her at this time of year, there was probably a gift for you under her tree.

Special thanks to those that were with her during her peaceful passing. (Jeff/Donna/Dawn) Many thanks to Jeff for the care that he provided to mom and dad for the past 15 years.  To Ron & Debbie who she loved visiting at their home, which she called "the family farm".  A place she was raised. Although she is gone, she has left us with a lifetime of wonderful memories. We take comfort in knowing that she is dancing with dad in a special place.

In honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and her request for no visitation will be honoured. We will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.

In lieu of donations, feel free to "pay it forward" in whatever way you can.
