It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Terrance (Terry) Nelson on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Terry leaves behind his wife, Lynda, daughters: Jennifer (Lee) and Stacia (Marc); beloved grandchildren: Hazel and Genevieve, sister, Virginia (Marinus), brother, Billy, brother-in-law, Paul (Laura), nieces and nephews.  Celebrated athlete and exceptional coach, teacher and mentor, Terry was much loved and admired by his colleagues and students who fondly referred to him as “Ozzie” because of the way he treated everyone like family.  Terry treasured family and friendship above all else.  His regular pizza nights with former students gave him endless joy.

The time Terry spent with his family, especially during cottage weekend visits, meant everything to him.  “Papa” was his granddaughters' biggest cheerleader and loved watching “the girls” play basketball and softball.  Terry also cherished spending peaceful walks in Port Dalhousie with a cup of coffee and his dog, Dolly.  A special thanks to Barb and Paul Singleton for their tremendous support and the wonderful memories shared at Oxbow Lake.  A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm on Saturday, July 27 at the St. Catharines Museum, 1932 Welland Canals Parkway.

Love you to the moon & back…

Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144.  Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
