It is with great sadness and enduring love that we announce the passing of Alix Ann Morgan on November 21, 2024, following ten years living with vasculitis, in addition to these past six months with melanoma cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband Rich, their beloved daughters Sara (Daniel Philpott), grandsons Harry and Oliver, and Melissa (Jamie Cameron), granddaughters Bowen and Maeve. Alix is survived by her younger sisters, Pippa Cherniavsky, Tessa Cherniavsky and Jan Snow (Duart Snow) and nieces and nephews.
Alix was born in the Dominican Republic to Ann and Peter Cherniavsky. She grew up in Vancouver attending Crofton House School, University of Victoria and University of Western Ontario. Alix and Rich began their married life in Calgary, Alberta, moving with their two little girls east to Oakville, onto Fonthill in Ontario. As retirees and snowbirds, they enjoyed warm winters in Scottsdale, Arizona, under the shade of their renowned lemon tree.
A natural organizer, Alix had a unique gift for bringing people together. A devoted mother, Alix was involved throughout Sara and Melissa’s school years, early years initiating a neighbourhood babysitting co-op, and heading up the Family Guild through the girls' high school activities. Alix’s commitment to her numerous communities included welcoming and introducing new residents to the neighbourhood, lending a hand to friends in need, and bringing family together and celebrating life. Alix’s selflessness, positivity, and thoughtfulness, was deeply rooted in her passion for volunteering. What Alix gave in her boundless generosity was reciprocated in a richness of wonderful friendships.
In 1990, Alix discovered her passion for golf, joining Rich as an enthusiastic member at Lookout Point Golf Club in Fonthill and Terravita Golf and Country Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Alix and Rich shared a love for travelling, exploring many parts of the world. Alix embraced every new journey with curiosity and an open heart, always seeking joy in each experience.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the friends and family who offered unwavering support during Alix’s final months. Your thoughts, visits, and messages have meant the world to us.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wellspring Niagara or Vasculitis Foundation of Canada. Alix will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness touched many lives and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
The family would like to thank Alix's medical teams including, Dr. Khalidi (Vasculitis), Dr. Lee (Oncology) and Colleen, Joyce, Melanie (Palliative Care and MAID).
As Alix would say, “IIDLS” or toodles.
