August 23, 1934 – October 4, 2024
Khalman passed away peacefully, in hospital, on October 4, 2024 in St. Catharines, at the age of 90 with his children at his bedside, after a short battle with congestive heart-failure and cancer. He faced the last days of his life grateful for a life well lived filled with love, laughter, travel, adventures, wonderful friends, an amazing family and no regrets. For Khalman his life was built around his love of his family, faith and he drew strength from both throughout his life. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of almost 63 years, Diane McMahon, his darling son, Michael, and his brother, Leslie.
He was the beloved father of Margaret and Paul (Alisa), and the cherished and proud Grandpa to Connor and Declan. Khalman will also be remembered by other extended family, nieces, nephews and numerous close friends. Khalman was born in Brockville, Ontario and completed a Business and Merchandising Management Administration at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (Metropolitan University of Toronto), which lead to diverse and successful sales management career mostly in the food service industry, working with both global brands and various brokerages. His work took him and his family on a somewhat Canadian odyssey, with homes and friends in Toronto, North Bay, Markham, Ste. Therese, Quebec, Coquitlam, B.C and finally St. Catharines. Khalman loved music (Marching Bands, Big Bands, Jazz and anything his grandson’s sang), sports (especially football and hockey) and reading. Following retirement, he took up various artistic interests including playing the organ and especially painting, where he found great enjoyment and shared his work with friends and family. He took pride following the many pursuits of his children and grandchildren throughout the years.
Khalman was grateful to all the wonderful people he met along the way. A special thank you from his family goes out to the amazing nurses, doctors and support staff at Niagara Health – St. Catharines Site (2A) for the amazing care, kindness and compassion they provided him in his last weeks. He really appreciated you all. In honouring Khalman’s wishes a cremation has taken place. Memorial donations to Niagara Health System – St. Catharines Site or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. https://donate.mytributegift.org/?cid=6cf6dd272a7d3c78218e961d491c3eeaad715d7db9ec28b898ea4aa1ee8bb73d&fh=FRP-308918&fp=3089186b5c6c0632d102cc0b9fbb841d8e
