Peacefully at home, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 with her family by her side.
Beloved wife of Doug Maracle. Cherished stepmother of Tracey Maracle (Michael Swanson) of California, and the late Mark "Shadow" Maracle (2023).
Dear sister of Eleanor Croll, Vivian Croll-Behar and the late Susan Shaw. Cherished friend of Ruth Koheil, Suzi Dwor, Nasrine St. Martin and Sarah Carter. Linda will also be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Harry and Goldie Croll, her first husband, Philip (1999).
Linda was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on April 2, 1948, the second of four sisters. She eventually moved to Canada where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with honours in Visual Arts at Brock University. Linda's talent at a young age was evident and encouraged by her father and later by her first husband, Philip. She went on to teach drawing, acrylic, water colors, mixed medium arts, and gouache all over the world; St. David's University in Wales, Spain and England, as well as closer to home; Burlington Art Center, Springbank Art Center, Rodman Hall, Niagara Pump House and Brock University.
Linda led Plein Air trips Newfoundland, Spain, France and Southern Wales. Her passion was nature, animals, flowers and people. Newfoundland was one of her most beloved places which has inspired so many of her beautiful paintings. In (the year), Linda and her husband Doug, a renowned Indigenous artist, opened the Phoenix Artists Group School of Idea's Art Gallery in Port Colborne.
Family will receive visitors on Thursday, December 19th, beginning at 10 am with the service following at 11am. The service can also be viewed via livestream by going to the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME Facebook page. Interment will follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. Guests are then welcomed back to the funeral home for a light reception.
