Passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday June 26 at the age of 87. Cherished husband of Elizabeth for 62 years. Gerry was born in Hillversum, Holland on February 1, 1937. He came to Canada to live with his sister in 1957. Loving father of Gary and Diane, Robert and Katie, Kevin and Patricia. Proud grandfather of Sarah (Tyler), Brandon, Dylan, Rebecca (Gage), Ryan (Maddie), Christopher, Ashley (Jason), Megan (Richard), Jesse (Kelly), Sarah (Cameron), Michael (Kandis). Papa G will be greatly missed by his great grandchildren; Mason, Zoe, Hudson, Luca, Ivy and Donn. Gerry worked at General Motors as a tool grinder, retiring in 1997. He had enjoyed his retirement of 28 years staying busy with Bud running the retiree golfing league. He loved to bowl and play cards at the retirement hall. but what he loved most was his family. He also very much enjoyed the companionship of many dear friends. Gerry and Liz also enjoyed travelling to Myrtle Beach every winter and made some wonderful longtime friends and memories.
In honouring Gerry’s wishes cremation has taken place. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life and will be held at the Unifor Retirement Hall on July 27 (124 Bunting Rd., St. Catharines) 1 pm to 5 pm.
