It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley May Cooper, loving wife of Alan, mother to Christopher and daughter in-law Jessica. Grandmother to Charlotte (Charlie) who made the sun shine brighter and the stars seem bigger. Sister to Bev, brother in-law Fred and sister in-law Kaye Bullock. Sister to brother Floyd and sister in-law Theresa Robins. Sister in-law to Joan and Craig Gates and aunt and cousin to many nieces, nephews, cousins, especially Jim and Terry, Chantelle and Jimmy and Sonja Johnstone.
Predeceased by mother Mabel Piper Robins (nee: Emerson), fathers Donald Piper and Orlan Robins, special Uncle Fred, baby sister Norma (3 weeks old), brother Carson, nephew Rob, and brother-in-law Rick. Lots of love to her best friends Nancy, Lois Anne, and Caroline, and the daughter of her heart, Rachel. Thanks to Dr. Janzen for her care and concern.
Shirley was a farm girl growing up on a farm near Attercliffe. She attended Pelham high and graduated in Nursing from GNGH, worked at Welland and Shaver hospitals in the Niagara Health System. She was a nurse, instructor and educator. Her favourite job was facilitating general orientations and meeting all the new hirees. Shirley was born, raised and died a nurse. A credit to her profession.
Visitation at Pelham Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 2-4pm and 6-8pm
Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Donations accepted for the Pelham Community Church Building Fund.
