NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF NIAGARA FALLS
*************************
On Saturday, Nov. 9 the community will celebrate the opening of Niagara Falls’ first wheelchair-accessible swing at MacBain Community Centre Park. The event will start at 12:30 p.m., with Mayor Jim Diodati bringing greetings on behalf of the city council, followed by speakers involved in the WonderFalls Pass initiative and a ribbon cutting.
The accessible swing project was funded from proceeds raised through the sales of the WonderFalls Pass. The pass is a discounted package that residents can purchase to visit local attractions during the yearly Sleep Cheap Charities Reap event. Participating local attraction operators open their doors to pass holders by participating in this initiative. The WonderFalls Pass was created by city Coun. Victor Pietrangelo to raise funds for worthy causes while allowing residents to explore the city’s unique places and attractions.
The proceeds of the WonderFalls Pass support improvements to the condition and accessibility of parks and playgrounds, like the new accessible swing.
