One killed in Thursday night stabbing

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, at approximately 9:55pm, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Niagara Street and Church Street in the City of St. Catharines for a stabbing. 

Uniform officers and Niagara Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and located a male with life threatening injuries.  

He was transported to an out of region hospital where he was tragically pronounced deceased.  

A suspect was quickly identified and arrested by uniform officers. 

52-year-old Stephen Dunk of St. Catharines is facing Second-Degree Murder charge.

Dunk is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday October 11, 2024 at the Robert S.K. Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.
