The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire & Emergency Services Department is excited to announce the launch of a new volunteer initiative aimed at enhancing fire safety education in the community.
The Fire Department’s Public Education Team is now accepting applications for dedicated volunteers to join the Town’s efforts in promoting fire safety awareness and prevention.
From now until Aug. 31, the Town is looking to recruit multiple enthusiastic individuals aged 18 and above who will play a crucial role in educating the public on fire safety measures and emergency preparedness. This opportunity is open to everyone, regardless of their residence, with a preference for candidates with an educational background.
Highlights of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Support Fire and Life Safety Education Programs by delivering training and programming to the community.
- Teach diverse audiences about fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and proper use of safety equipment like Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms.
- Ideal candidates have teaching or training experience, are skilled in various instructional methods, and are knowledgeable about Ontario Fire Code regulations.
- Effective communication skills, including public speaking, are essential.
- Educate all age groups, from children to seniors, on safety topics.
- Flexible availability is required to participate in public education events during weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
