The Town of Pelham announced Saturday morning that all facilities at the Meridian Community Centre (MCC) were once again fully operational, including the last puzzle-pieces, the two arenas, which were earlier in danger of losing their ice if power hadn't been restored soon. Only the EV charging stations, on the east side of the building, remain out of service.

PelhamToday understands that a third-party electrical contractor was brought in to re-route electrical circuits as necessary, permitting all areas of the building to be used but not all at once. A replacement transformer may not be in place until mid-week.

Late Friday the Town announced that access to the walking track was restored, and the facility's elevators were once again in operation.

On Thursday, a transformer located outside of the MCC caught fire, leading to an evacuation of the building and a loss of power. No one was injured during the incident, which prompted the cancellation of this year's Kinsmen Home and Garden Show, set to take place this weekend.

A generator was acquired and is providing power to the building, while according to a Town statement released on Friday staff continue to work with Hydro One, electrical contractors, and the Electrical Safety Authority of Ontario to find a permanent solution.
