The Latin Swing Orchestra started and ended early last Thursday due to inclement weather.

Instead of the usual 5 o’clock sound check, last week’s entertainers at the Fonthill Bandshell agreed to a 5:30 p.m. concert start, knowing the wet weather was most definitely on its way later that evening.

The Latin Swing Orchestra, and a small, brave and happy crowd gathered Thursday, July 20, in downtown Fonthill to experience the intoxicating rhythms of Latin music. The red shirt brigade (aka bandshell volunteers) and patrons alike came prepared to Salsa, with umbrellas or clear plastic ponchos and coverings for themselves, or their chairs, in preparation for when the skies opened.

In the end, Fhanor Molina and his nine-piece band managed the maintain the tropical groove for about an hour before stopping to keep everyone safe. The concert was made possible through sponsorship by Fonthill United Church, and bandshell patrons.

Next up at the bandshell this Thursday is Vinyl Flux, bringing classic rock in note-for-note renditions from professional musicians with multiple Niagara Music Awards to their credit. All concerts start at 7 p.m.
