Four days of fun in the sun at Pelham Summerfest

Thousands flocked to event for music, food and a little shopping

There was a little something for everyone on the weekend as Pelham Summerfest rolled out four days of music and fun in downtown Fonthill.

The sun was out and the temperatures, while summer-like, did not get oppressively hot as thousands flocked to downtown to take in the festivities. Events took place in Pelham Town Square, Peace Park, and on Pelham Street – which was closed to vehicular traffic Friday through Sunday – so visitors could enjoy a wide variety of food, entertainment, vendors and fun.

Starting with Thursday evening’s show at the Fonthill Bandshell in Peace Park featuring Forever Young, a tribute to Rod Stewart, more music followed on Friday with country sets from Chippawa Dirty, The Country Junkies and The Blackstone. Saturday’s music lineup tilted more toward rock and pop with performances from the likes of Figure Four, The Madhatters, and The Chimps.

Saturday also included entertainment and a wide range of activities for children in the Kids’ Zone at Peace Park, where they could meet animals from Reptile Kingdom, take part in some superhero training, or learn about science the fun way with Mad Science. There were also bouncy castles and numerous games for kids to try.

Visitors could check out a wide range of classic cars on Sunday. For entertainment, music was supplied by Jimmy’s Juke Joint. The Kids’ Zone fun also continued in Peace Park.
