Fiddlestix stomps way onto Bandshell stage

Celtic fusion band brings high-energy show to town

If you are old enough, or you are curious and have Internet search skills, you might be able to still hear that song in your head, the one sung by Donny and Marie Osmond. “I’m a little bit country” sings Marie, to which Donny answers “And I’m a little bit rock ’n’ roll!”

While there were no Osmond songs in the lineup Thursday, July 25 at the Fonthill Bandshell, this night’s entertainment – Fiddlestix – embodied that rock and country fusion well, along with some high-spirited Celtic and folk songs to boot.

Playing original and cover tunes from many genres and decades, the dynamic fiddle ensemble from Halton, Ont., led by electric fiddler, Steve Bowen, bounced their way through a two-hour set with very little down time between clapping, stomping and dancing, from the performers and audience alike.

Next up is the 1980s-inspired Neon Mixtape on Thursday, Aug. 1, sponsored by Meridian Credit Union. All concerts start at 7 p.m.
