PelhamToday received the following Letter to the Editor in response to the column, WATTS UP | My tale of two Islamic states.
I've just read Mr. Watts' column, which I found interesting, but his last comment leaves me puzzled.
Is he suggesting that a Palestinian state would be an Islamic theocracy? Why should one assume that?
Palestinians are not all Muslim; there is a strong Christian minority in Gaza and the Occupied Territories, in addition to Druze.
There are many thousands of Palestinians in Israel itself, most of them citizens; indeed, Arabs make up over 20% of the population of Israel, which nevertheless declares itself a Jewish state.
