LETTER: Expect more of the same if they are re-elected

Ontarians are tired of the people who are supposed to represent and protect them ignoring all but the interests of the wealthy, reader says

PelhamToday received the following Letter to the Editor about some of the problems in our province today:

Why are the people of Ontario who once were hard working, law abiding citizens now exhibiting actions that some label as radicalism? In the simplest of terms, they are tired of the people that are supposed to represent and protect them ignoring all but the interests of the wealthy.

Allow me to explain that statement by way of demonstration.

While they wait for help in overcrowded emergency rooms, they have plenty of time to read of millions of their tax dollars being spent by their government to make it simpler to obtain mind numbing alcohol which will undoubtedly help them forget their problems.

Or, maybe they can read of the $6,000,000 being offered to boost the income of the landlord and tenant board, while its members continue to lack any degree of accountability to any member of parliament even while entering onto the Sunshine List on tax dollars. This is the same board that answers the phone, after a lengthy wait, with a cheerful “expect to wait approximately eight months before we can get to you”.

Oh, if you phone more than once to ask for help from your local MPP you may overhear “Guess who’s back” from one their caring employees!

Or maybe they can read of the Ontario’s Power Generation president receiving $1,900,000 while they struggle to meet their monthly payments to their local hydro supplier! Again, no one holds anyone in this corporation accountable.

I could, unfortunately, go on ad nauseam but you are probably already nodding off, so I’ll end with, if you return the same people to run our government, you should be held accountable!
