PelhamToday received the following letter to the editor from reader Tom Crawford in regards to a story published on Sunday referencing Thorold City Council making the decision to withdraw from a national partnership to reduce emissions.

I refer to your Sunday article entitled: Thorold bows to climate deniers and conspiracy theorists.

Thorold appears to have elected a council with more than its share of Neanderthals, and possibly flat-earthers, proponents of the Ptolemaic system of planetary motion, deniers of stratospheric ozone depletion, and anthropogenic climate change.

For heaven's sake get with it Council! The science of the greenhouse effect is pretty easy to prove in a physics lab. What's harder to prove is that the earth's natural mechanisms for regulating GHG levels are overburdened by mankind's emissions of excessive GHGs, resulting in global warming. But the world's scientific community now has models and methods of predicting this behaviour and have concluded that mankind needs to manage its emissions. Now!

All of us need to get together and manage this problem of our own creation. Thorold's behaviour should be part of the solution.
