On Friday, Feb. 7 at approximately 3:05 p.m., 6 District (Port Colborne /Wainfleet) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Welland Street and Bell Street, in Port Colborne, regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
Officers, the Port Colborne Fire Department and Niagara Emergency Medical Services attended the scene and located an adult female pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. She was transported to an out of region hospital via Air ORNGE with life-threatening injuries.
Investigation revealed a 38-year-old male was operating a yellow Ford Van westbound on Bell Street. The male proceeded to make a left hand turn onto Welland Street when the vehicle struck the pedestrian.
Detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service have taken carriage of the investigation.
