Niagara Regional Police say a transport truck driver has been charged with running a red light after a collision with another vehicle in Grimsby.

Police said there were no reported injuries in the crash that took place Thursday at around 1:40 p.m.

That's when officers from 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) responded to the area of Christie Street and Clarke Street for a collision.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed two vehicles had been involved, police said in a news release.

One, a transport truck, was travelling northbound on Christie when it entered the intersection and struck a grey Ford Focus.

The transport left the roadway and struck a guard rail, lodging the vehicle alongside the Christie Street QEW highway overpass.

Police say the driver of the transport, a 70-year-old Burlington man, was issued a provincial offence notice for failing to stop at a red light.

The northbound roadway on Christie Street and the QEW Eastbound ramp were temporarily closed as a result of the crash.
