On Nov. 21, 2024, at 11 a.m., 8 District (West Lincoln/Grimsby/Lincoln) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to CIBC located at 4100 Victoria Avenue, Lincoln for a report of a robbery.
Investigation revealed that at approximately 10:55 a.m., the suspect entered the bank while brandishing a firearm. The suspect approached the bank teller and demanded money. The male suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On Dec. 9 at 10:30 a.m., a male suspect entered the TD Canada Trust located at 364 Scott Street, in the City of St.Catharines.
The suspect was armed with a firearm and demanded cash from the bank teller.
8 District uniform officers, 8 District CIB, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers, 1 District CIB, the 1 District Street Crime Unit, the Intelligence Unit, the Emergency Tactical Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service and the Hamilton BEAR Unit all worked jointly to conduct this investigation and identify the suspect.
As a result, it was discovered the same suspect was responsible for both robberies.
On Dec. 12 Isaiah Sharpe, 29, of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Robbery (firearm two counts)
- Disguised (with intent two counts)
- Possession of a firearm, weapon or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Sharpe was held in custody pending a bail hearing that was expected to take place on Dec. 13, at the Robert S.K Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.
