On April 8, 2023, at 5:03 p.m., Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) responded to reports of a stabbing at an address on Buchanan Avenue between North Street and Kitchener Street in Niagara Falls.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 42-year-old Niagara Falls resident who was suffering from a minor, non-life-threatening stab wound. Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics attended the scene and assessed the victim prior to transporting him to a local hospital for medical treatment. The victim has since been released from the hospital.
Detectives assigned to the 2 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation. It has been determined the suspect and victim were known to each other. The suspect has since been identified, and attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful. It is believed the suspect knows he is wanted and is undertaking steps to avoid his pending arrest. Detectives are appealing to members of the public for assistance in locating him.
Zachary James Hill, 32, Niagara Falls is currently wanted for assault with a weapon.
Members of the public should not approach Hill as the knife involved in the stabbing has not been recovered.
