Falls traffic stop leads to drug charges

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, at approximately 1:10 p.m. Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) uniform members assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) were on general patrol when a vehicle was observed stopped at the intersection of Montrose Road and Highway 420 in Niagara Falls.

A traffic stop was initiated and during this process grounds were formed that the individual’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drug. As a result, the individual was searched incident to arrest and the following was discovered:

  • 43.7 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • 23 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 24 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine
  • $940 in Canadian currency

 Michelle Tucker, 34, of Niagara Falls was charged with the following offences:

  • Impaired operation of a conveyance – drug
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine 
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – crystal methamphetamine
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Drive while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)

Tucker was later released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
