On Monday, March 17 at approximately 4:45 a.m. uniform members of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 5 District (Fort Erie/Ridgeway) responded to the area of Garrison Road and Helena Street in the Town of Fort Erie for a motor vehicle collision call for service.
Initial investigation revealed that there was a single motor vehicle collision which resulted in a grey Buick striking a street post and flipping over. Further investigation revealed that an individual involved in the collision was in possession of:
- A Glock firearm
- 27.4 grams of suspected fentanyl
- 111.3 grams of suspected cocaine
- 14 tablets of suspected oxycodone
- 234.6 grams of suspected cannabis
- $100 in Canadian currency
In totality, the estimated street value of the drugs seized was approximately $18,000.
Ardon Chamberlain, 21, of Fort Erie was charged with the following criminal offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Careless Storage of Ammunition
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (two Counts)
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Oxycodone
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Several Cannabis Act related charges
Chamberlain was held in custody and attended the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines on Monday, March 17, where he was remanded into custody.
