NEWS RELEASE
NIAGARA REGIONAL POLICE
************************
As the colder months approach, the Niagara Regional Police Service would like to remind the public of the heightened risk of auto theft. Criminals are specifically targeting vehicles left running to warm up, especially when keys are left in the ignition. Additionally, farm trucks remain vulnerable when keys are left in the ignition or stored in accessible locations.
To help protect your property, we encourage you to follow these important safety measures:
- Never leave your vehicle unattended with the keys in the ignition, even while warming it up.
- Always secure pick-up trucks utilized on a farm and ensure that keys are stored in a safe, locked location.
Taking these simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of theft. Stay vigilant and help protect your vehicles and equipment.
Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to persons who contact the program with information which leads to an arrest.
