Police say the suspect smashed a door to gain entry to a home before pouring an accelerant on the floor

2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara on the Lake) detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) are investigating an attempted arson incident in Niagara Falls.

On Nov. 23, 2023 at 5 a.m., uniform officers responded to a residential break-in alarm at a home on the Niagara Parkway near Marshall Road. When officers arrived, they found that a door had been smashed open and an accelerant poured on the floor inside. The suspect was not able to start a fire and ran from the area.

Detectives were assigned to the investigation and photos of the suspect were obtained. The suspect is a male wearing a hoodie with a bandana covering his face.

Damage to the home is estimated at $5,000.
