With broken hearts we announce the passing of Ineke Gesina Wilhelmina Vording (nee Vandermey), on Friday, surrounded by the love of her family, at Hospice Niagara. Ineke will be sadly missed by her loving husband, John; sons, Mathew (Chunyu) and Luke (Joyce); grandchildren, Hao and Leeza; brother, John Vandermey (Helen). She is predeceased by her parents, Willem “Bill” Vandermey and Betje "Betty" (nee Dewit).

Born in the Netherlands, Ineke was a Fonthill resident for the past 25 years. She graduated from Woodstock Collegiate then from Brantford School of Nursing. After marriage and having her children, she graduated UWO BScN. For more than 25 years she worked in the health care field: as an operating room nurse; in Public Health; and in Home Care. Over her extensive career she had a positive impact on many lives and received numerous thank you notes and letters from patients and their families.

Even with her dedication to her career, Ineke valued her family and was an outstanding mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was a steadfast walker, swimmer and general fitness buff. Ineke loved to travel and together with her husband has visited numerous countries and continents; after retirement they especially enjoyed the winters in Florida amongst their many American friends.

The family wish to thank the staff at Hospice Niagara for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Niagara.

According to the wishes of the family, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to Pleasantview Funeral Home, 2000 Merrittville Hwy., THOROLD (905-892-1699) on Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
