After 92 years of love, fun and adventure, Marilyn Scott (nee LeJeune, Tete to many) died in Fonthill on June 20, 2023 surrounded by love and gratitude.
Born in Fort Erie to Harold and Leona LeJeune, Marilyn was a quintessential middle child who broke all the rules. After graduating from Fort Erie High School, Marilyn embarked on a career as a dental assistant that spanned both sides of the Peace Bridge and all the way to Germany. Upon marrying her beloved Arthur B Scott, Marilyn became instant stepmother to 9. David and Karin made it 11. Marilyn embraced her role as mother, grandmother and GG with unconditional love, and was the guiding force for us all.
In 1967 the family moved from Welland to The Farm in St. Johns outside of Fonthill - a paradise that became both home and haven for many. In 1982, Marilyn was appointed to the Ontario Board of Parole - a perfect application for her hard-earned wisdom, open mindedness and optimism. Until the very end, Marilyn's positivity and sparkling smile never wavered.
Predeceased by Art in 2000, her mother Leona in 2002, brother Jim in 2013, daughter Helen in 2017 and son John in 2023.
Marilyn leaves her sister Vivian Seeley, children Karin, David (Kathy), MaryBeth (Chris), George (Jennifer), Jay, Kathie, Tom (Joyce), Susan, Anne (Jean Claude), Peter (Hazel), 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by many beloved nieces and nephews, related by blood and by the heart.
We are heart-broken by her death, but truly grateful for all the unwavering love, kindness, generosity and humour she showered so many with. Thanks to those who significantly eased her final years including the wonderful Mary Beattie, life long friend Helen Shuttleworth, Lupe Chavez and the caring staff at Lookout Ridge in Fonthill.
The family invite friends to join us and share memories of Marilyn on Thursday, July 13, 2-4 and 7-9 at Pelham Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 14 at 11am at St. Alexander's Church in Fonthill, followed by a luncheon at Peninsula Lakes Golf Club.
