February 1, 1946 - January 18, 2025

It is with broken hearts and countless warm memories, we announce the passing of Gaetan “Gaetes” Nadeau. Surrounded by the family he loved, Gaetan passed away on January 18, 2025, just two weeks shy of his 79th birthday, at NHS-Greater Niagara General Hospital.

Gaetan is survived by his best friend and wife of 49 years, Katharine (Marie) (nee Crump); his daughter, Chantal Nadeau; his son-in-law, David Beaudoin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Alonzo and Blanche; siblings Armand, Lisa, Jim, and Marcel.

Born in Cabano, Quebec, Gaetan made his way to Ontario in his twenties. In 1974, he met the love of his life, Marie, and they married the following year. They were blessed with a baby girl, Chantal, who became the centre of his world. Gaetan couldn’t hide how proud he was to be a father. He supported Chantal in every endeavor, always taking an active role in parenting. When Chantal married David, it was only natural for Gaetan to welcome him as a son.

Gaetan found happiness and contentment in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time with his family, whether it was having backyard barbecues, cheering on his beloved Montreal Canadiens or watching a Blue Jays game with his wife. He was an avid Euchre player, known for being a wild card, often “going alone” with hardly anything in his hand except a wing and a prayer. He was also an ace cribbage player and will be greatly missed by his friends at the MacBain Centre Cribbage Group.

For years, Gaetan worked as a Motor Vehicle Assembler and was proud to have never missed a day of work due to illness until his retirement. He was the most loyal, loving and amazing husband and father, deeply cherished by his “girls.”

Our love for you is never-ending, and the love you gave us will always be felt and never forgotten. We love you more than you could ever imagine.

In lieu of flowers, Donations in Gaetan’s memory can be made to his favorite charity, the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. https://donate.mytributegift.org/?cid=002dd1c634e58c55bf83a44bf57a07fdccf543471b2e2f0a0f1d103baded0b02&fh=FRP-308918&fp=3089186b5c6c0632d102cc0b9fbb841d8e

A Celebration of Life will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, February 15th, 2025 at Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
