Passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the Adam’s Centre in St. Catharines at the age of 79. 

Beloved husband and best friend of 58 years to Adelma (Del). Dear and loving father of Kimberley Leney (Chris Lachnit), Richard (Ritch) Leney (Pearl Lieu) and predeceased by his daughter Lehanne (1970). Cherished grandfather of Melanie, Trevor (Ana), Devon, Braiden (Cassie) and step grandfather to Kevin (Kelsey), Justin (Christine), Jason (Erin), Tiffany (Austin) and Ash-Lee. Step great-grandfather to Shane, Addisyn and Anya. Dear brother of Dennis (Elaine). Predeceased by father Parker (Spud) and his mother Gladys. Also forever missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Rick was employed with Bell Canada for 30 years retiring in 1995 at the age of 50. After retirement Rick held several jobs as well as owned his own business.

In 2001 he was hired by Lewis & Krall as a Home Health Serviceman until 2015. For many years he coached, refereed and was on the executive of Pelham Minor Hockey. He was a member of the Fenwick Lions Club and transferred to the Fonthill Lions Club.

In later years he coached his grand boys at Welland Minor Hockey. Rick enjoyed playing hockey, waterskiing, snowmobiling and camping while introducing all to his kids and grandchildren. Rick and Del travelled coast to coast in Canada, to Florida, Hawaii and Alaska.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring team at the Adams Centre from the outstanding care and compassion Rick was given while in their care.

The family will receive friends at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Wednesday, December 4th from 7 – 9:00 pm and on Thursday, December 5th from 10 - 11:00 am followed by a memorial service to honour Rick’s life beginning at 11:00 am.  A reception will follow at the Fonthill Legion, on Hwy 20, Fonthill.
