It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Zachary Lorne Gillard on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton.  Zach grew up in a loving home, where in excelled in sports, especially hockey, and was an overall athlete in everything.  Zach made many strong and lasting friendships.  Zach loved fishing trips with his Grandpa and Sunday dinners at Grandma’s house.  To all the staff and people at True Experience we can’t thank you enough treating Zach like family, we will never forget his time there.  To the staff at Good Shepard and St. Joseph’s Hospital we thank you for doing everything possible for Zach.  He deserved a second chance, but unfortunately that doesn’t always happen.  Zach loved his family and would make a point to tell them, he loved and appreciated them and told us often as possible.  Zach was big brother to Christopher and Allison, and was so proud of them, he liked to talk about is brother and sister to people he would meet.  He was larger than life itself and loved to laugh and hang with his brother in the garage and talk and listen to songs.  Zach will be forever missed and in our hearts with so many happy memories.  To all our family and friends your support has been overwhelming.  Goodbye Zach, rest in peace “Big Guy”.

Zach is survived by his parents, Shelley and Lorne Gillard, his siblings, Allison and Christopher Gillard, cousins, Sheena and Dianna, Kristin and Emily Gillard, Aunt Joanne Richardson, Uncle Joe, Uncle Steve and Aunt Jenn.  Zach who just thought the world of his Grandma, Joan Gillard.  Predeceased Grandpa, Uncle Blair, Nana, Poppa Hughey, Great-Uncle Bob and Jackie who Zach always asked about.  So many people who were so kind to Zach, Getta, Debbie, all the folks down east who always asked about him.  Family from the Falls Joyce Ann, Ronda, and Kim always there in tough times.  To all of our friends were always there when needed couldn’t imagine not having you around.  To Shelley’s co-workers at the Children’s Centre you have been great through these tough times.  To Lorne’s co-workers and friends at Lakeside Gas we can’t say enough.  Thank you.

Cremation has taken place with a private family service.  There will be a Celebration of Zach’s Life from 1pm till 4pm on Saturday, November 16th, at The Fonthill Legion, 141 Highway 20 East.
