Our mom passed away peacefully at Juravinski Hospital on January 20, 2025 after a year-long battle with cancer. Loving mom of Annie (Patrick) Sawatsky and Erin (Aaron) Mendonça. Leaving behind the loves of her life, she was the proud Nana of Garrett, Tegan, Taio and Knox. Lifelong best friend of Bill English. “Suzie” was a protective big sister to Laurie, John (Mary), and Andrea. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and her crazy dog, Rosie. Sue had a tight knit group of friends who she loved dearly. She was often a bright smile, a warm hug, or a listening ear to many. We know she was so well loved by the many friends she met throughout her life journey. Sue loved her job and was proud to work for the Canada Revenue Agency for 25+ years. During retirement she was passionate about educating future accountants at Niagara College. Sue was an active advocate volunteering on the board of Niagara Peninsula Children’s Centre, Start Me Up Niagara and Detox Niagara. Our mom had the biggest love for life. Whether it was skydiving from an airplane, volunteering in South Africa or riding the Disney TRON rollercoaster (twice) with her grandkids - she never turned down an adventure.

The family will receive friends at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Friday, January 24 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at Elm Street United Church 11 Elm Street, St. Catharines, on Saturday, January 25 at 11:00 AM. Susan will be laid to rest in a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Start Me Up Niagara or CASON in her name, 2 places that held a special spot in her heart. Donations and online condolences may be left at www.Bocchinfusofh.com

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Oelofse, Dr. Segal and the doctors, nurses and PSWs at the Juravinski Hospital for their love and care.

“I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as we’re living our mommy you’ll be.”
