Passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Monday, March 13, 2023 at the age of 82 years. Cherished mother to Kimberly (Michael) Kisel, Kristen (Stephen) Dajka, Katrina (Greg) Buiter and Ron Jr. (Jackie) Boyer. Proud Grandmummy to her eleven grandchildren Aaron Kisel (Mallory Landry), Abbey (Jack) Martin, Karley, Sydney and Lyndsay Dajka, Jack, Joshua and Kyle Buiter, Jordyn, Jillian and Jessica Boyer.

Pre-deceased by the father of her children Ron Boyer, her parents Jack and Dorothy McCall (nee Livermore) and her older brother George McCall (Doreen). She is survived by her younger brother Norman (Lorraine) McCall. Vicki was a dear friend of Ruth Otterman and Gloria and Ted Skowby.

Mum was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England and moved to Glasgow, Scotland as a young child. She spent many formative years in Scotland and enjoyed fond memories with her childhood friend Hilda. Mum enjoyed participating in numerous sports and theatrical plays both with her family and at school. The family emigrated to Canada and began life in Niagara Region residing in both Welland and Fonthill.

Ahead of her time in both her career and in fashion, Vicki worked as an Engineer Tracer in Scotland well before many women were in this field. After emigrating to Canada she worked at the pharmacy in the Welland Hospital before taking a break to start a family. She returned to the pharmaceutical field after her young family had grown up.

Vicki was creative. She drew illustrations, she knitted, she went to hair dressing school but she found her greatest passion in writing. During her “at home” time raising children, she wrote for the local newspaper under the column of Neighbourhood news for Pelham and later as Pelham News for the Welland Tribune. Her stories articulated details that placed readers right at the event whether that be an art show, an Easter Egg Hunt or a local school play. She cared for her community and her community enjoyed her columns.

Mum was a devoted and proud Mother and she loved showering her grandchildren with love and attention. We will miss her laugh, her love and her Scottish “frugalness”. Mum loved her wee brother Normie and we know she will be dearly missed by him.

Vicki’s children extend a warm ‘Thank You’ to the staff at Ridgeview for their care of Mum over the years.

Sweep through the heather like deer in the glen

Carry me back to the days I knew then…

Smiles in the sunshine and tears in the rain

Still take me back to where my memories remain
