1946-2024

Passed away at Niagara Health St. Catharines hospital on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the age of 78. We have truly lost an incredible man that always put his family first.

To Susan, he was not only her loving husband, but her soulmate and better half, for over 53 years. Many called him Dad throughout his life, including a handful of neighbourhood kids, friends, and lucky foster children, but the especially meaningful to his four children, David (Omeiki), Sarah (Ian), John (Laura) and Gerry (Amy). He was dedicated to his grandchildren Victoria, Chelsea, Taylor, Elijah and Addison and was the best grandpa, teacher, and supporter throughout their lives.

Alan was a long-standing Lion, Past District Governor of A2, and served with the Fabulous Fenwick Lions for over 46 years. Throughout this time, he constantly spoke about community, mentored and initiated many new Lions, and always found a way to help those in need. His passion about Lionism extended into many projects, but Lions Camp Dorset, Camp Huronda, LCIF, and Youth Exchange were always near to his heart.

In addition to farming, following his Beamer family roots, Alan was an avid chicken and pigeon enthusiast, raising and showing his feathered friends across Ontario, and was so excited that the tradition carries on with Beamer Poultry, John, Laura and the girls.

Alan was a math and special education teacher at Sir Winston Churchill SS in St. Catharines for his entire 31 years of his career. He enjoyed working with his hands – either in the garden, in the wood shop, on many projects around the house, doing puzzles or sorting out his stamp collection.

We will always remember his enduring love, passion for serving others, quiet strength, and steadfast belief that family is the only thing that matters.

Family and friends will be received at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill, ON on Friday, July 26th, from 2-4pm and 630-9pm. The Lions Club will be holding a walkthrough for the family, at 6pm that evening. The funeral service to honour Alan’s life will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, July 27th, beginning at 11am.

An expression of sympathy donations may be made to LCIF or Lions Camp Dorset. Condolences can be shared at www.pelhamfuneralhome.ca
