THOROLD MINOR HOCKEY

This weekend, the community will come together to support young athletes from around the province to enjoy an exciting display of talent and sportsmanship at the Henderson’s Pharmacy’s 35th annual hockey tournament. Hosted at the Thorold Community Arena, Canada Games Park and Seymour Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre, this annual event promises to be an action-packed experience for athletes and fans of all ages.
The tournament, running from Jan. 24-26, will feature 33 teams from across the province competing in various age divisions from U11 to U18. Over the course of the tournament, participants will demonstrate their skills, teamwork,and dedication to the sport, while parents and fans will cheer on the next generation of hockey stars.
“We are thrilled to host this year’s tournament and provide these young players with the opportunity to showcase their hard work and talent,” said Bree Wilson, Tournament Director of Thorold Minor Hockey. “It’s more than just about hockey; it’s about building community spirit and fostering lifelong friendships among players, coaches, and families.”
In addition to the thrilling games, the tournament will feature several off-ice activities, including a raffle, food concessions, and great community shopping opportunities in the downtown core. Fans can look forward to exciting competitions and most of all a welcoming atmosphere that will ensure everyone has a great time.
Tournament organizers also emphasize the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork, which will be celebrated throughout the weekend. Special recognition will be given to teams and individuals who demonstrate respect and fair play both on and off the ice.
“We are excited to see how these young athletes compete and grow over the course of the tournament,” said Thorold Minor Hockey President Mike Wilson. “This tournament is a celebration of the passion and commitment that makes hockey such a beloved sport in our community.”
