The City of Welland’s Concerts on the Canal series has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario by Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO). This prestigious designation highlights the event’s role in fostering community engagement, supporting local businesses, and enhancing Welland’s reputation as a vibrant and livable city.
Held at the scenic Merritt Park Amphitheatre, Concerts on the Canal is a free summer concert series that brings residents and visitors together to enjoy live music against the backdrop of Welland’s recreational waterway.
“Receiving this recognition from FEO is a tremendous honour and a testament to the dedication of our staff, volunteers, performers, and the entire community who come out to support live music in Welland,” said Erin Carl, supervisor of festival and events. “Through Concerts on the Canal, we create opportunities for social connection, celebrate arts and culture, and provide a welcoming, inclusive space where people can gather and take pride in their community, all of which contribute to making Welland a more livable city.”
With its floating stage, diverse lineup, and commitment to showcasing both local and national talent, Concerts on the Canal not only provides top-tier entertainment but also strengthens Welland’s economy by attracting visitors to the downtown core. Concertgoers frequent local restaurants, businesses, and vendors, helping to stimulate economic activity while enjoying a shared cultural experience.
With this recognition, the City looks forward to expanding and enhancing the series to continue fostering a strong, connected, and culturally rich community.
