The Township of Wainfleet has issued a public notice reminding local property owners about new licensing requirements related to short-term rental housing.

The licensing regulations are new for 2024 and include Airbnb, bed and breakfasts, and all rentals under 30 days, the Township said. The Township passed a bylaw in July 2023 which is in force for all rental properties in Wainfleet that rent for less than 30 consecutive days. The Township says short-term rentals and bed and breakfasts must have a licence to both advertise and operate. Failure to licence will result in “administrative monetary penalties” (fines) under Township Bylaw 026-2023.

“Help keep our community safe and peaceful,” the Township’s public notice reads.
