NEWS RELEASE
MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT, CONSERVATION AND PARKS
*********************************
In recognition of Remembrance Week, Acting Environment, Conservation and Parks Minister Todd McCarthy issued the following statement:
“We are immensely grateful for the brave actions of Canadian men and women in uniform – both past and present – who have fought to defend our country and protect the values of freedom and democracy. In recognition of their service, Ontario is proud to offer veterans and active service members free weekday day-use access to Ontario’s provincial parks throughout the entire year.
Veterans and active service members may take advantage of this program by presenting their valid Canadian Armed Forces identification card and proof of Ontario residency at the entrance of any provincial park. Free weekday entry also extends to loved ones accompanying a service member or veteran in the same vehicle.
With so many beautiful provincial parks to explore – including thousands of kilometres of trails – I hope this program will encourage all current and former service members to enjoy the great outdoors and discover everything our parks have to offer.
There are no words to express our profound gratitude to the Canadian Armed Forces members and their families who continue to serve our country in times of war, conflict and peace. During Remembrance Week, and every day, may we show gratitude for their courage and sacrifice, and cherish the freedom they have made possible for generations of Canadians as we thank them for their service.
Lest we forget.”
