TOWN OF PELHAM

The Town of Pelham was recognized by Enbridge Gas for lowering greenhouse gases through a successful grant application for $10,000 to support a window film application at the Meridian Community Centre.
The installation of window film in the gymnasiums, the administration offices, the Accursi meeting room, the spin room and the upper windows of the Atrium was completed in the summer of 2024. The film is an innovative way to support energy savings year-round by reducing heat loss in the wintertime by 3 per cent and helping reduce summertime heat gain by 27 per cent.
“It is encouraging to be recognized and receive the support from Enbridge Gas for the Meridian Community Centre window film project,” said Town of Pelham Mayor Marvin Junkin. “To see the ingenuity of these environmental products being used in Pelham is encouraging. The window film provides savings year-round and I’m sure the many groups, including basketball and pickleball, who use the spaces will also enjoy the reduced glare that the film provides.”
The Town has developed a Corporate Climate Change Adaptation Plan in 2021 as a framework to mitigate the anticipated impacts of climate on the Pelham community. The Plan focuses on the adaptive and resilient capabilities of Town-owned assets, including buildings such as the Meridian Community Centre, to implement elements that will positively impact a changing climate. The Town’s strategic plan also includes a focus on Environmental & Climate Adaptation and implementing actions that will provide the foundation for a clean, safe and sustainable environment for present and future generations. By focusing on this area, the Town is prioritizing actions that will continue to protect and conserve resources in Pelham.

Enbridge Gas is advancing the transition to a sustainable energy future through net-zero emissions targets and investments in innovative lower-carbon energy solutions. The Enbridge Gas Municipal Climate Action Offer grant is aimed to support municipal action by reducing natural gas consumption within their community.
