Niagara-on-the-Lake photographer David Gilchrist has taken many shots of Lake Ontario during his early morning walks. These photos were shot Wednesday morning, June 7, showing smoke on the water during an air quality alert due to smoke from wildfires burning in other provinces.
("Smoke on the Water," by the way, Deep Purple's 1972 hit with its singularly familiar opening guitar riff, was in fact inspired by smoke over Lake Geneva, Switzerland, from a casino fire in Montreux.)
