Region seeks members for Niagara Transit public advisory committee

Volunteers give their perspective on transit services, discuss service levels, policies, and the issues and concerns of riders

Niagara Region currently has an opportunity for community members interested in participating in the Niagara Transit Commission Public Advisory Committee. The Committee is looking to fill a variety of roles including:

  • One resident from each city/town nominated by that city/town from the submitted applications. The resident must be representative of the diversity of transit users and transit interested parties within that community.
  • Two members from various community groups within Niagara representing persons with disabilities or other accessibility interested parties
  • Two post-secondary representatives (one member from Brock University and one member from Niagara College)
  • One member representing the Chambers of Commerce
  • One member representing the senior sector
  • One member representing the youth sector

The Niagara Transit Commission Public Advisory Committee is a volunteer advisory committee to support the commission to provide an affordable, accessible, reliable, safe and convenient transit system while meeting customers' expectations.

The Committee will give their perspective and input to the commission on various transit services in Niagara. They will discuss service levels, policies, programs to create awareness and implementation of legislation. They will also address the issues and concerns of public transit users.

Applications are encouraged from all members of the community, including Indigenous peoples, people of colour, people of all genders and sexualities and people with disabilities.
