The City of Welland’s economic development office, in collaborative partnership with the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA) of Canada, hosted an information session at Welland City Hall to launch Project Arrow 2.0.
Poised to address challenges within the electric vehicle sector, including supply chain disruptions and mineral production capacity constraints, Project Arrow 2.0 is a beacon of innovation. One of the project’s cornerstones is its emphasis on multi-sector collaboration. The initiative intends to become a dynamic hub where industries, academic institutions, and municipalities converge to propel advancements in the area of electric vehicles.
This session drew together a diverse group of representatives from local municipalities, suppliers, and academic and financial institutions. Guests were introduced to the project’s overarching goals and objectives and learned about fostering resilience in the face of industry challenges.
“Project Arrow 2.0 symbolizes Welland's commitment to pioneering solutions for challenges that lie ahead in the electric vehicle sector,” said Lina DeChellis, manager of economic development. “Aligned with the City’s Strategic Plan and fuelled by innovation, this partnership underscores our dedication to facilitating conversations and opportunities as we navigate the evolving landscape of clean transportation.”
The APMA’s pivotal role in this endeavour is to seamlessly collaborate with municipalities and academic institutions, establishing a rich environment for research and cooperative networking.
Flavio Volpe, president of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association, said, “Welland and the region’s long history in advanced manufacturing and proximity to the American market makes it an attractive partner for the future of the automotive industry. Project Arrow 2.0 aims to draw from the unique experience, skill set, and posture of one of the world’s most mature manufacturing regions as it demonstrates Canada’s competitiveness globally.”
As Project Arrow 2.0 rises to redefine the future of electric vehicles and generate innovative solutions, the City of Welland also emerges as a trailblazing municipality that’s shaping sustainable transportation.
