This inaugural fundraiser, cleverly named FUNDERBALL, will be very different than other traditional pickleball tournaments. FUNDERBALL will create a unique pickleball experience featuring fun “PicklePlay” and challenging games for participants to earn points towards prizing. It will include playful, pickleball-related activities such as dinking-only games, serve-to-the-hoop, pickleball trivia and other unusual competitions for attendees to try out their mental and physical pickleball skills.

There will be opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for some great pickleball prizes such as a five-week Nike Pickleball Sports Camp being held in Vineland in April, a pickleball net, a Selkirk paddle, pickleball balls, etc.

In keeping with the fun theme, there will also be a prize for the best pickleball attire/costume.

FUNDERBALL’s goal is to raise money to support Niagara-born marathon runner, Michael Seliske, complete his dream to run in the London Marathon, with proceeds supporting Shaftesbury Group, a U.K. based charity committed to enabling people with disabilities.

Seliske has already successfully participated in 11 marathons since 2016 including San Franciso, Chicago, California International (twice), Boston (twice), Athens, New York, Berlin, Toledo and Eugene Oregon, plus an Ironman in Tempe Arizona. He plans to compete in the Tokyo Marathon in March 2025 prior to competing in the London Marathon in April.

FUNDERBALL will be held Feb. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. in Tennis Clubs of Canada’s “Bubble”, located at 6980 Kalar Rd., Niagara Falls.

All levels of play are welcome to participate including beginners, recreational and competitive players, as well as complete pickleball virgins.

Tickets are $50 per person, with all proceeds going to Shaftesbury Group.

FUNDERBALL is being organized by members of NIPA – Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association and promises to be a fun time for all. There are a limited number of tickets available and they are selling fast,” said Karen Seliske, one of the event organizers.
